i’ve been up for an hour now and i can’t get back to sleep. did you know that the birds start chirping at exactly 3:58 a.m.? well, they do.

in honor of insomnia here is a list of things that have made life completely wonderful as of late:

• got a job! - okay, this one is the bestest thing to happen as i was literally one day away from waiting tables again
• e.j., jenny bean, batonga, z-bear and derek helping me celebrate my new found employment
• defining moments in friendships
• having way too much to do on the fourth of july makes me feel loved
• hey mercedes
• being told in a job interview that i glow
• having a two hour job interview that ends in “you’re hired!” - beat that donald trump
• not paying for work done on your car
• damon is coming home next week

alright cats and kittens, i need to know who all is interested in going to gulf shores for labor day. i need to get as close to a number as possible so that i can look for either a house or a condo. i need to know by june 30th!

just when things start looking up something bad happens. so goes my day yesterday. i had managed to get an interview set for tuesday at nine a.m. with a fairly reputable staffing agency. i went to burlington to buy a new suit just for the occassion (and also because my old suit is a little small now). i purchased a very sophisticated and sweet black skirt suit for $70 and trodded out to my car. as i was trying to pull the gear shift into drive it became stuck and would not budge. i tried a couple more times and a light on my dashboard lit up. i called VW roadside assistance and they informed me that i had activated the anti-theft on the gearshift and would have to have it towed.

for the love of the baby jesus!

i had to return my suit so that i could pay the tow truck man. and, to boot, i had to miss my interview this morning because my car is at the dealership being worked on.

as woody allen would say: “anything else?”

i went to the thrift store today to find some new books to read…here is what i found instead:

a full suit of armor for only $99.99. granted he is only five feet tall, but i guess it was made for a tiny knight.

it’s Casey! i remember how much i loved and hated this toy as a kid. kind of like Teddy Ruxpin.

mounds of semi-naked barbies. this was a little disturbing…especially because they were tattooed with the price on their backs. it was like a plastic auschwitz.

EJ, Derek and i had brunch last wednesday afternoon. that is derek’s budweiser…EJ and I drank mimosas.

a homeless man who was sleeping quite soundly in front of our table. he didn’t even flinch when a pigeon sat on his head.

it is a little hard to tell in this photo but EJ is giving the aforementioned homeless man bunny ears. that’s what you get for falling asleep in front of us.

no trip to eat champagne brunch on a weekday afternoon would be complete without a picture of the most controversial piece of art in the ‘Ham.

as you might have noticed i have deleted all of my posts save the few that are pictures. i feel i owe you guys an explanation as you are the ones who have kept me sane and loved through these years. since blogging my life has become infinitely harder to handle, i.e. the loss of my job and family issues. therefore, in respect of those two aspects i have decided to make pretty helmet a photo blog…atleast for awhile.

i realized that i have been relaxed about my anonimity which has resulted in several hardships.

i want you all to know that i love all of you and thank you for being my support system whether i needed a good kick in the butt or someone to sympathize with me. the friends i have made will be forever dear to me and if you ever need anything just let me know.
