suwannee, georgia…3:13 p.m. eastern time. the family is sitting in the living room watching the LSU/Arkansas game. my father, brother-in-law and i are all on seperate laptops taking advantage of the wi-fi connection in my sister’s house. i would assume that by comparison my family is normal and functional in that all too well known dysfunctional way. we drink, we argue, we hush my very loud sister and you can count on the fact that every single conversation will end up being about bodily functions. but through all of the fart jokes and penis waving i learned something very important about my family this holiday: they are forgiving and accepting and know how to make a very bad situation into a a very uplifting experience.

happy thanksgiving to everyone. i sincerely hope that you your holiday was as special as mine.

first i must apologize that i freaked out half the population of birmingham with my last post. i want to assure everyone that the pretty helmet family is not expecting their first child, however we are expecting our first home. that’s right boys and girls! we are buying a house!

it is located in the quaint, yet affluent suburb of forest park where we will be within walking distance of the echoboomer family and my favorite chicas dmoney and mary dangerous d. we close on the house next month and could not be more excited about spending christmas in our first home. thanks to everyone who talked me off the “i can’t stand this house hunting shit!” ledge and assuring me that the right one would come along. this little gem is a 1930’s craftsman bungalow completely renovated to accent the original features of the house.

big news on its way. i don’t want to reveal too much lest i jinx the whole damn thing. i will give a hint though:
it requires constant attention, whines when settling down for the night, and it’s blue, though it could be pink.

i have had a migraine for the past two days complete with nausea and numbness in my fingers. i believe i can thank my recent stress at work for this little malady.

in other news we put an offer on a house in forest park. thinking good vibes right now despite the blinding pain in my head. the house hunt has been anything but pleasant. we’ve met opposition at all sides including but not limited to too small rooms, old and crusty bathrooms or kitchens, no yard space, the smell of the 70’s which i believe is a combination of porn and shag carpeting, and home sellers who think their 954 square foot house should not be sold for less than $190k. so, if you love or respect me at all (or if you hate me but love kev or the dogs) keep your fingers crossed for us. if we don’t get this house my head might explode from frustration. which, at this point, sounds mighty fine to me.
